Youth Sport new_nBanner_rt

The Eastern Centre of the ACU is committed to providing motorcycle sporting activities for everyone over the age of 6 and to this end, a thriving youth section exists in the centre.

Throughout the country, including the Eastern Centre, there are clubs that are dedicated solely to the youth side of the sport. However, some meetings are joint adult and youth events, i.e.they have classes for both adults and youths in the same meeting. In the Eastern Centre, youth events are run for motocross, trials and grass track; youths are not permitted to ride in enduro.

By law, the ACU is not permitted to accept children under six years of age into its meetings. However, once the child is six he/she can participate in Trials, Grass Track and Motocross providing they, their protective clothing and their machine meets the specification for their particular age group. There are also differing ages at which the child may commence riding as an adult and this depends on the discipline he/she is interested in.

Youth sport requires machines of different specifications this being dependent on age. This is done with the intention of providing as safe an environment as is possible for the competitor, and takes into account, the fact that motorcycle sport is involved.

The ACU have adopted a very responsible attitude towards the problem of Child Protection and has developed a Child Protection Policy which is intended to give confidence to parents and/or guardians of youth competitors and to provide organisers and officials with guidance on dealing with children and young persons in the 21st century.
